The Logan County District Board of Health met for the first time in 2026 and elected officers for the year. Dr. Grant Varian was reelected President, and Kathy Smith was retained as Vice President.
The board learned that 43 immunizations were administered in December, down from 143 in November of 2025. Of those, 13 children were immunized. The breakdown was as follows:
For adults:
- 2 Flu
- 9 High-Dose Flu
- 12 Covid-Pfizer
- 1 Covid-Moderna
- 1 Pneumococcal
- 3 RSV
- 2 Shingles
In 2025, 756 vaccines were administered, down from 942 in 2024.
In her report, Director of Community Health Megan Bailey provided the board with the November, 2025 infectious disease statistics. She noted that as of November 2025, the number of Hepatitis-C cases had dropped noticeably from November 2024. As of November 2025, there were 8 reported cases, down from 15.
She also reported 26 influenza-associated hospitalizations through the end of November 2025, bringing the total to 69, up from 26 in 2024. Logan County Health Commissioner Travis Irvan said he expects the December numbers to also be higher.
Bailey also said the Health Department distributed 22 Narcan kits in December.
The next meeting of the Logan County Board of Health will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Health Department Conference Room.
