Logan County hosts CHARM event for safe disposal of hazardous waste

Logan County residents will have a chance to safely dispose of household hazardous waste and other hard-to-recycle items during the CHARM event happening Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at 1100 South Detroit Street in Bellefontaine.

The CHARM (Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials) program, led by the Logan County Solid Waste District, aims to help the public dispose of materials that should not be placed in the regular trash.

Fees may apply for certain items, and residents are encouraged to check the list of accepted materials before they arrive.

By Ohio EPA regulations, the event is strictly for residential households.

No hazardous materials will be accepted from businesses, schools, farms, churches, nonprofits, or government agencies.

All items must be in labeled, secure containers.

Important Reminders – Items NOT Accepted:

  • Adhesives and glues
  • Drywall compound
  • Putty and spackling compound
  • Roofing compound
  • Driveway sealants
  • Empty paint cans (can be disposed of in regular trash)
  • Dried-out paint (can be thrown away)
