The following is a joint statement released Tuesday afternoon by local law enforcement.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Russells Point Police Department, Washington Township Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and additional safety service partners continue to assist the greater Indian Lake community following the March 14th tornadoes.
Our primary concern is the safety and security of community members and personnel as recovery efforts continue. The law enforcement personnel are on patrol 24 hours a day in residential and business areas by vehicle and on foot. Additionally, portable street lights will remain in operation from dusk to dawn to illuminate the areas of Geiger Home Trailer Park, Midway, Orchard Island, and the area of Westview Street in Russells Point.
To regulate traffic, law enforcement personnel continue to maintain a presence at numerous intersections throughout portions of Russells Point, Washington Township, and the area surrounding Indian Lake. Members of the Ohio National Guard are working within public areas and in the right of way to get U.S. 33 and other roadways open. In the meantime, the public is reminded to follow detours.
We would like to remind community members not to dump debris along US 33; instead, use the designated dumping sites listed below. Utilizing the established detours and designated dump sites will help Cruise get the roadways back open as soon as possible. Dumpsite locations include:
- Lakeview ballpark, Lake Street, general item waste
- Emil Davis Park, State Route 720, wood debris
- Russells Point Helipad, wood debris
- Russells Point Recycling Center, bagged household items
- Cherokee Run Landfill, dump trailers
The public is asked to call 911 for emergencies and utilize the Logan County Sheriff’s Office dispatch phone number at 937-592-5731 for non-emergencies.
Updates will be provided to our media partners and on the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Russells Point PD, and Washington Township Police Department Facebook pages.
