A 17-year-old girl from Logan County was seriously injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in Lima, according to a press release from the Lima Police Department.
Police say the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Molly Avenue.
Officers were alerted after multiple 911 calls reported shots fired at the Brower Commons Apartment Complex.
Shortly after, a mid-size SUV arrived at Mercy Health–St. Rita’s Medical Center with the teen inside.
She had been shot in the neck.
After initial treatment, she was transferred to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Investigators learned that two carloads of Logan County juveniles had been visiting someone at the apartment complex.
As they left, several male suspects ran toward their vehicles and opened fire.
Bullets struck the SUV, injuring the 17-year-old.
The vehicles then left the scene eastbound on Brower Road before heading to the hospital.
Detectives interviewed the victim, other occupants of the vehicles, and an initial person of interest.
Police say they are continuing to collect and review video from the area as the investigation moves forward.
No names have been released at this time.
