Katelyn Dugan, 30, of Lakeview, was arrested on Tuesday following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of illegal substances in her vehicle.
Just before 7 PM, a deputy saw Dugan driving a white Nissan Altima northbound on State Route 235 near Powhatan Path without a visible license plate. The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of Winner’s Market. Upon approaching the vehicle, law enforcement identified Dugan as the driver and owner. Although a temporary Ohio license tag was visible in the rear window, it had expired on August 7th.
During the stop, deputies noted several signs that suggested Dugan might be under the influence of drugs.
Dugan was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. Initially uncertain, she eventually admitted to having fentanyl residue on tin foil, unused needles, and a small amount of methamphetamine. During a vehicle search, deputies found a small rock of suspected methamphetamine and two tinfoil packages containing methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Additionally, four cut straws with powdery residue and two syringes were discovered in an eyeglass case within Dugan’s purse.
Dugan said that the drugs were obtained from Columbus and identified the substances found as methamphetamine and crack cocaine. She was read her Miranda rights and taken into custody. She was transported to Logan County Jail, where she was lodged and charged with possession of drugs.
