Bridges Community Action Partnership and the Logan County Commissioners are working on a plan to restore public transportation service in Logan County after the loss of transit service in early 2025.
The Logan County Transit Development Plan lays out a phased approach to bringing service back, based on community needs and feedback from 27 local stakeholders and 206 community survey responses.
Logan County Commissioner Mike Yoder recently joined News Director April King on 98.3 WPKO’s Listen Up! to talk about the transit plan.
The first priority is restoring countywide demand-response service.
Bridges and the commissioners will work with ODOT beginning in September to seek funding, purchase vehicles, hire staff, and prepare for the launch.
Service is expected to begin in phases in July 2027, with a full countywide launch planned for January 2028.
The demand-response service would be available to the general public throughout Logan County.
Riders would reserve trips at least 24 hours in advance, with vehicles traveling based on rider requests rather than fixed routes.
The proposed schedule is 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The plan also calls for possible future on-demand service in Indian Lake and Bellefontaine, depending on available funding.
The project is receiving technical assistance through the Ohio Department of Transportation, with support from transportation planning consultants Nelson\Nygaard.
