A 64-year-old London man was arrested on OVI charges following a traffic stop in Urbana on January 20, 2026.

According to a police report, a red Ford hatchback failed to yield at a posted yield sign while entering the roundabout from Scioto Street, forcing an officer to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The driver was identified as Clarence Jackson, 64, of London.

Police reported detecting the odor of alcohol, along with Jackson appearing to have bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. Jackson told officers he had consumed three drinks and failed standardized field sobriety tests.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed an open can of Natural Light beer near the passenger seat, a cooler with seven unopened beers, and a marijuana cigarette.

Jackson was taken to the Urbana Police Division, where breath-test attempts were unsuccessful due to an interference reading. He later provided a urine sample that will be sent to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory for testing.

Jackson was cited for failure to yield at a yield sign and operating a vehicle under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was released to a sober driver.
