After dedicating over three decades to education, Indian Lake High School is bidding farewell to two of its beloved educators: Assistant Principal Dave Coburn and Business Teacher Lisa Coburn.
Dave Coburn, who has spent 30 years at ILHS within a 35-year education career, announced his retirement after years of service as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal in charge of discipline.
Known as a caring father figure to many students and athletes, Dave combined high expectations with tough love and practical advice throughout his tenure.
His resilience shone brightly after the Coburn family home was destroyed in the 2024 tornado, a challenge they faced head-on by rebuilding their lives.
Coach Coburn and News Director April King caught up and talked about retirement, and he even gave a little advice, too:
Dave’s wife, Lisa, is also closing her chapter at ILHS after more than 30 years in the field of education.
Lisa has served as a satellite business teacher for Ohio Hi-Point at ILHS for the past 11 years and previously taught for 20 years at Marysville High School.
She is the founder of the ILHS Business Professionals of America (BPA) program and has passionately led students to the BPA State and National conventions for many years.
Lisa looks forward to spending retirement traveling, volunteering, and enjoying well-deserved rest.
She shared, “My plans in retirement include traveling, volunteering, sleeping in, and NOT grading papers!”
The Coburns are excited about settling into their new home and staying busy supporting their two grown sons.
And no doubt, they will remain loyal Laker fans!
