Deputies responded to a report of three loose Clydesdale horses near the intersection of Runkle Road and South State Route 235 on Thursday, February 5, around 4 a.m.

When units arrived, two of the horses were found calmly standing in a nearby field, while a third was discovered lying on its side and stuck in a culvert along the roadway. Deputies began checking the area to locate the owner and soon made contact with Roger Bodey, who confirmed the horses belonged to him.

Bodey responded to the scene and worked alongside deputies to help free the trapped horse, which had its leg caught in the culvert piping. While preparations were underway to retrieve additional equipment, the horse was able to roll in the cleared area and free its leg on its own, standing up without apparent injury.

Once the horse was freed, Bodey walked all three Clydesdales back to his residence. Deputies followed with emergency lights activated, providing traffic control and ensuring the large animals made it home safely.

With the horses secured and no injuries reported, deputies cleared the scene and returned to service.
