Saturday evening, Todd Neu, 51, of Bellefontaine, was arrested for driving under the influence following reports from a witness about his erratic driving.

A witness reported that Neu’s blue Honda nearly crashed into a pond near a residence on State Route 540.

Bellefontaine Police initially struggled to locate the vehicle but eventually found it parked on East Columbus Avenue.

Neu, who appeared impaired with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, admitted to consuming 5 or 6 beers.

He failed field sobriety tests, including the walk-and-turn and one-leg stand tests.

A breathalyzer test at the Bellefontaine Police Department revealed a BAC of 0.219%, almost three times the legal limit.

Neu was charged with OVI and had his driver’s license seized.

He was released to a friend and is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
