A Bellefontaine man is facing charges after allegedly pulling a gun during a confrontation in the Walmart parking lot Friday evening.

Police were dispatched around 5:30 PM after a caller reported that a shopping cart had hit their vehicle and that a man had pointed a handgun at them during an argument.

The victim told officers that after they confronted the man about the damage, a younger man—identified as Gregory Adriance Russell, 35, of Bellefontaine—pulled a firearm.

The suspect then left the scene in a maroon Lincoln SUV with a handicap plate, heading north on South Main Street.

Bellefontaine Police quickly located the vehicle and stopped it near the gas station at the corner of North Madriver Street and East Sandusky Avenue.

Officers detained Gregory Russell and the driver, identified as 68-year-old Robert Russell of Bellefontaine.

Police say Gregory admitted to having a knife, which was recovered during a search.

He also told officers the gun was under the passenger seat.

A Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, matching the victim’s description, was recovered from the floorboard.

It was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Robert admitted to accidentally hitting the victim’s vehicle with a shopping cart but denied seeing his son pull a gun.

Gregory was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail on a charge of aggravated menacing.
