A Ridgeway man was arrested Monday evening after a woman reported that he was intoxicated at the Blue Jacket Park in Bellefontaine.

According to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were called to the park shortly before 6:30 PM after the caller reported a man in an orange shirt was sleeping by a dumpster and had been stumbling around.

Officers arrived and found the man, 34-year-old Jeffrey Ferrell, asleep on the ground.

After waking him, police noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on Ferrell and that he showed several other signs of intoxication.

Ferrell admitted he had been drinking and was found in possession of an open container.

He explained to officers he was waiting for his wife, and later attempted to call family members for assistance, but was unable to find anyone to pick him up.

Due to concerns for his safety and level of intoxication, he was taken into custody.

Ferrell was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Logan County Jail.
