A man was arrested on Thursday after stealing a car from the Taco Bell parking lot and being linked to other thefts in the area.

Just before 4 AM Thursday, a female victim reported her 2006 Acura MDX was stolen while she went inside Taco Bell for a few minutes, leaving the car running.

Surveillance footage showed a man on a bicycle approaching the car, getting inside, and driving it away.

Police later found the stolen car behind a building on South Park Street and identified the suspect, Kory Bowden, 40, of Canton, riding a bicycle nearby.

When Bowden was detained, police found a body massager in his backpack, which was linked to a theft on Wednesday.

Wednesday, a woman reported her purse stolen from her car parked behind Domino’s.

The purse contained her wallet, cash, and family pictures.

Employees at Domino’s had seen a man matching Bowden’s description hanging around the area.

Further investigation showed that items found in Bowden’s bag, including a Kroger Plus card, matched those from the woman’s stolen purse.

Bowden was arrested and charged with stealing the car, and other theft charges are still being investigated.

He was taken to the Logan County Jail, and police continue to look into his involvement in other thefts.
