According to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were called to Mary Rutan Park Wednesday afternoon, after receiving a report from a concerned citizen.
A caller told dispatch that Zavier Meeks, 32, of Lima, had sent messages to them saying goodbye and warning that there could be a standoff if police got involved.
They told law enforcement that Meeks spends time in several parks around the city.
Law enforcement began to search parks and surrounding fields, and railroads.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office helped set up a perimeter and joined in the search.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol flew over the area with a helicopter, but Meeks still wasn’t found.
A little while later, Meeks was found at a gas station on South Main Street.
When police approached him, Meeks claimed to be fine, but officers explained they had concerns for his safety.
Denying the concerns, Meeks was eventually arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
