Mary Rutan Health has earned four national recognitions from the American Heart Association for providing high-quality, evidence-based care to patients experiencing heart attacks and other serious cardiac events.

The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines awards recognize hospitals that consistently follow nationally established, research-based guidelines designed to improve treatment and outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.

“Behind each of these awards is a team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who understand how important every minute can be when someone is experiencing a heart attack,” said Chad Ross, president and CEO of Mary Rutan Health. “These national recognitions demonstrate the quality of care being delivered every day at Mary Rutan Health and our commitment to providing exceptional cardiovascular care close to home.”

Mary Rutan Health received Silver-level recognition for the care of patients experiencing both major types of heart attacks.

STEMI, or ST-elevation myocardial infarction, generally involves a complete blockage of a coronary artery, while NSTEMI, or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, typically involves a partial blockage.

The health system also received specific recognition for its care of heart attack patients with Type 2 diabetes, a population that can face additional cardiovascular risks.

In addition, Mary Rutan Health earned two American Heart Association Rural Coronary Artery Disease Silver awards.

These recognitions are designed to evaluate the unique role rural hospitals play in quickly identifying, treating, and coordinating care for patients experiencing serious cardiac events.

Mary Rutan Health’s commitment to cardiovascular care includes a Level Two cardiac catheterization laboratory, which provides advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac services close to home.

Combined with nationally recognized, evidence-based care practices, the facility helps ensure patients experiencing cardiac emergencies receive timely, high-quality care when every minute matters.

Mary Rutan Health received the following 2026 American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines recognitions:

  • Get With The Guidelines–Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving Silver with Target: Type 2 Diabetes
  • Get With The Guidelines–Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI Silver with Target: Type 2 Diabetes
  • Get With The Guidelines–Rural Coronary Artery Disease NSTE-ACS Silver
  • Get With The Guidelines–Rural Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Silver

The Get With The Guidelines program helps hospitals put the latest scientific research and American Heart Association recommendations into practice.

Participating hospitals are evaluated on established quality measures designed to promote timely and appropriate treatment and improve outcomes for cardiovascular patients.

“These awards are particularly meaningful because they reflect the care our team provides when patients are facing potentially life-threatening situations,” Ross said. “Our goal is always to ensure patients throughout our region have access to timely, high-quality care when they need it most.”

The recognition adds to Mary Rutan Health’s continued commitment to advancing cardiovascular services and providing exceptional care to the communities it serves.
