Today, Judge Kevin P. Braig sentenced David E. Mathews to 11 to 13.5 years in prison on a host of drugs and weapons offenses.
A pre-sentence report demonstrated the defendant possessed a lengthy criminal history, including five prior prison sentences.
Judge Braig gave Mathews 5 to 7.5 years on a felony of the second-degree aggravated possession of drugs conviction.
He also dished out 2 years on three felonies of the third degree, two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, and one count of having weapons while under disability.
The sentence was consistent with Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart’s recommendations for a lengthy aggregate prison term on all counts and with similar prison terms given to similar repeat offenders.
Defense counsel John Cunningham represented the defendant at the hearing.
