Tuesday morning, officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department saw Trenton Matthews, 43 of Bellefontaine, walking down Ludlow Road.
The officer knew Matthews and dispatch confirmed that there was an active warrant for his arrest.
The officer got out with Matthews and tried to handcuff him.
He attempted to punch the officer and tried to pull away.
Other officers arrived on the scene and Matthews was successfully placed in handcuffs.
He was transported to the Logan County Jail on his warrant and also charged with resisting arrest.
