Saturday evening, Bellefontaine Police were called to McDonald’s on North Main Street on reports of a suspected intoxicated man.

Dispatch reported that the man was staggering and nearly fell over a trash can while walking to his vehicle.

The vehicle involved was described as a blue Ford truck with an Ohio registration plate.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers spotted the truck and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, who identified himself as Ronald Beuchert, 61, of Blacklick, showed several signs of intoxication but claimed he had not consumed any alcohol that evening.

As Beuchert stepped out of the vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet.

Refusing to perform field sobriety tests, Beuchert was placed under arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found an empty beer can and an empty liquor bottle.

Beuchert was transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department, where he was offered the opportunity to take a breath test, but he refused.

He was then transported to the Logan County Jail where he was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and having open containers in a motor vehicle.
