The Mechanicsburg Board of Education met in regular session Monday evening, approving key measures and celebrating new opportunities for students.
Board members approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of real property adjacent to the current campus, and heard an update on a Battelle STEM grant awarded to Mechanicsburg Middle School. The grant is part of a statewide effort to expand hands-on science and technology learning in Ohio classrooms.
Superintendent Danielle Prohaska shared comments on both items.
In other business, the board:
- Accepted a $500 donation to help cover school lunches for students in need.
- Approved supplemental contracts for 2025–26:
- Nichole Ark – Pep Band Director
- Nichole Ark – Choir Club Advisor
- Approved substitutes for 2025–26, pending paperwork:
- Olivia Wilcox – Elementary/MS Teacher
- Bryna Adams – Elementary Teacher
- Jessica Thomas – Teacher
- Approved volunteers for 2025–26:
- Katie Bush – High School Girls Bowling
- Awarded a limited one-year non-teaching contract for 2025–26:
- Dale Tunnell – Custodian (166-day contract, Step 7, starting Nov. 10)
The next Mechanicsburg Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 8.
