Mechanicsburg BOE commends fall athletes, Pam Wenning to retire

The Mechanicsburg Board of Education met in regular session Monday evening, highlighting an impressive slate of fall sports accomplishments and handling several district business items.

Fall Sports Commendations

The board celebrated student-athletes who earned league, district, state, and other major recognitions across the fall season.

Boys Cross Country

  • Beck Negley – 2nd Team All-OHC, Academic All-Ohio, OHSAA State Championship qualifier (137th)

  • Adrian Miller – Honorable Mention All-OHC

  • Dmitri Pack – Honorable Mention All-OHC

Girls Cross Country

Team Honors: District Runner-Up, Regional Runner-Up, 9th Place at the OHSAA Division IV State Championship

Individual Honors:

  • Clair Rodgers – 1st Team All-OHC, District Runner-Up, Academic All-Ohio, 1st Team All-Ohio, 11th Place at State

Golden Tomahawk & Retirement Recognition

The board honored Pam Wenning, Director of Technology, with the Golden Tomahawk Award, along with a retirement commendation. Wenning has served the district since 2018.

Superintendent Danielle Prohaska commented on the commendations the boards gave out as well as upcoming events in 2026.

District Business

Board actions from Monday’s meeting included:

  • Approval to purchase a 2026 Honda Odyssey from Honda Marysville for $42,204 for district transportation needs.

  • Approval of OSBA membership for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026, totaling $5,152.

  • Reappointment of Paul McMahill to the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Board of Education for a new three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

High School Boys Wrestling:

  • Dec. 29–30: Brecksville Invitational

  • Rescinded: 2025–26 contract for Dale Tunnell, custodian (declined position).

  • Approved: Angela Estepp as custodian, effective Dec. 3, 2025–June 30, 2026 (Step 0).
