Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School District officials are responding after the death of a Mechanicsburg High School student, with support services in place for students and staff.
The following is a voicemail that went out to the district’s staff and families:
“I am heartbroken to share the news of the death of a Mechanicsburg High School student earlier today. The Champaign County crisis team has been assembled and will be in the district on Monday to talk to both staff and students. Tomorrow, January 12th, students will be operating on a two-hour delay, while staff will report as normal. Again, students will be operating on a two-hour delay on Monday, January 12th. Please know we are here to support our students and staff. If you know of someone who is struggling with this news, please reach out to a building principal, school counselor, or any other trusted provider. Please keep our community in your thoughts. Thank you.”
