The Triad Local School District Board of Education approved several key personnel decisions, recognized outstanding students, staff, and community members, and authorized upcoming student trips during its regular meeting on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
New Head Football Coach Announced
One of the highlights of the meeting was the official hiring of Tim Melvin as Triad’s new head football coach.
District officials stated that the search drew more than 25 applicants and involved three rounds of interviews, which included administrators, parents, players, staff, and community members.
In the end, Coach Melvin stood out for his leadership style, vision, and philosophy for building a strong football program.
Coach Melvin comes to Triad from Urbana High School, where he served for several years as running backs coach, wide receivers coach, and offensive coordinator.
During his tenure, Urbana’s football program showed steady growth, earning playoff appearances in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Colleagues describe Melvin as “respectful, energetic, a go-getter, reliable, innovative, and a great offensive mind.”
Triad administrators said he will play a key role in strengthening program culture, increasing participation, and developing player skills.
Coach Melvin has appreciated the community support and says he’s ready to get to work come next fall.
