A Bellefontaine man was arrested early Friday morning after reportedly running multiple stop signs, driving without a license plate, and showing signs of impairment during a traffic stop.

According to a report from Bellefontaine Police, officers saw a black motorcycle commit several traffic violations around 12:30 AM.

The rider, later identified as 25-year-old Tyler Harvey, allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign.

The motorcycle then quickly accelerated and shifted through gears at a high speed.

Officers continued to follow the motorcycle, observing more violations, including failing to use a turn signal, making improper turns, and entering a crosswalk at a red light without fully stopping.

The motorcycle also did not have a license plate.

After attempting to pull the motorcycle over, Harvey continued for roughly 30 seconds before finally stopping on Rush Avenue.

Upon approaching Harvey, officers noticed the smell of alcohol and spotted a partially empty 12-pack of beer on the rider’s lap.

Harvey showed several signs of intoxication and told officers he had recently purchased the motorcycle from his brother and had not yet gone to the BMV to get it registered.

He also claimed he had not been drinking but admitted to coming from a friend’s house where others had consumed alcohol.

When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Harvey refused.

He also declined to provide a breath or urine sample after being transported to the Logan County Jail.

During the arrest, he briefly resisted by tensing his arms but was eventually handcuffed without further incident.

Harvey was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and several traffic violations, including failure to stop, improper turns, and driving without a license plate.

His motorcycle was towed from the scene, and a probation holder was placed on him, preventing his release from jail.
