A Logan County teen reported missing earlier in the week has been safely found after law enforcement tracked him down in Bellefontaine.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a Township Road 55 address on Wednesday, regarding a missing juvenile, 16-year-old Gavin Spires.

His guardian told deputies that Spires had left home the night before after an argument.

Deputies learned the juvenile had previously run away a few weeks earlier.

On Thursday, deputies received a tip that Spires had been seen in Bellefontaine and was possibly staying with an adult female.

Later that day, Bellefontaine Police encountered the teen after reports that he had threatened another juvenile.

When officers approached, Spires—wearing all black and a pink ski mask—ran from the scene.

Deputies and Bellefontaine Police pursued him on foot through an alley off Carlisle Street, where he was eventually taken into custody.

Spires was transported to the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville.
