Township trustees around Logan County have reported a rash of stolen/damaged road signs in recent weeks, and it’s costing taxpayers a lot of money.

Replacement signs can range in cost, depending on the size and material of the sign.

A typical sign costs anywhere between $100 and $150, not including the cost of installation.

In addition to the costs associated with replacing a sign, vandalism also results in an increased risk of crashes.

Oftentimes, the signs become unreadable when vandalized.

Although stealing road signs may seem like a harmless act, the consequences can be serious.

Interfering with street signs is a crime, and if caught, people could face hefty fines and community service, as well as jail time.
