Monday crash sends one to hospital

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, a two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon sent one driver to the hospital.

Around 3:00 PM, a 1990 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 71-year-old Vernon Knotts of Bellefontaine was traveling eastbound on West Lake Avenue, west of Troy Road.

At the same time, a 2024 Ford F-350 driven by 48-year-old Kimsey Kennedy of DeGraff was traveling westbound on West Lake Avenue, east of Troy Road.

Police say Knotts attempted to make a left turn onto Troy Road but failed to yield and was struck by Kennedy’s vehicle.

Knotts was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

He was cited for failure to yield.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
