A motorcycle and a car collided Monday afternoon on West State Route 29 in Urbana, sending both drivers to the hospital with injuries.
According to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office crash report, the collision occurred around 4:42 p.m. Aug. 24.
Troy Christison, 18, of Urbana, was traveling southbound on West State Route 29 in a Honda Accord when he began turning left into a driveway.
At the same time, Nathaniel Hensley, 31, of Urbana, was passing the Accord on the left on an Indian motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the front driver’s-side door of the Accord.
The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was transported from the scene, while the Honda had minor damage and was driven away.
Both Christison and Hensley were transported by Urbana EMS to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana for treatment. Christison was treated for minimal injuries, while Hensley was treated for minor injuries.
Deputies later followed up with Hensley at Mercy Urbana and issued him a citation for improper passing, listed in the crash report as overtaking and passing.
No additional injuries were reported.
