Police are looking for a motorcyclist who led officers on a dangerous high-speed chase through Bellefontaine Sunday evening.
The incident began around 8:30 p.m., when an officer spotted a teal motorcycle with red and orange rims riding northbound on the sidewalk near Ludlow Road and Colton Avenue.
The bike was heading straight toward a woman walking ahead with her back turned.
The officer quickly pulled onto the sidewalk and turned on emergency lights to stop the motorcycle.
Instead of stopping, the rider sped up, swerved around the cruiser, and took off back onto the road.
The officer followed with lights and sirens on as the motorcycle raced up Ludlow Road, hitting speeds of 70 mph in a 25 mph zone and passing several vehicles down the center of the street.
The rider continued onto Eastern Avenue, ran a stop sign, and cut off a truck hauling a trailer.
The chase continued onto East Chillicothe Avenue, where the rider blew through another stop sign at South Park Street and hit speeds of nearly 60 mph.
The motorcycle then turned north onto South Main Street, heading straight into downtown Bellefontaine.
With pedestrians nearby and traffic building, the officer took a side route down North Madriver Street in an attempt to intercept.
Shortly after, police supervisors ordered the pursuit to be called off to avoid further risk to the public.
The suspect is described as wearing a multi-colored jacket—red, white, and black—with black pants.
The motorcycle and rider were last seen heading north on Main Street.
Dashcam footage captured the entire incident, and the case remains under investigation.
