Multiple Crews Respond to Sunday Field Fire

On Sunday afternoon, the Bellefontaine Fire Department responded to a field fire on County Road 57.

The fire was sparked by a garbage fire that spread to a nearby cornfield.

A neighbor called 911 after noticing the flames, which consumed approximately one acre of corn.

Fire crews from Bellefontaine, Huntsville, Belle Center, and Zanesfield worked together on the scene for about 90 minutes.

The estimated total crop loss is around $750.

Authorities remind the community that there is currently a burn ban in effect between 6 A.M. and 6 P.M.

They encourage residents to monitor any outdoor fires, especially outside these hours.

Thanks to the quick response of the fire department, further crop loss was prevented.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
