Authorities are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred early Thursday morning at the Comfort Inn.
Bellefontaine Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:30 AM following reports from multiple victims.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the owner of a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck, who reported that their front passenger window had been smashed.
The owner noted that while items inside had been disturbed, nothing appeared to be stolen.
However, further inspection revealed that the center console had been damaged.
As officers continued their investigation, they discovered additional vehicles affected by the break-ins.
A black Toyota RAV4 was found with its driver’s window smashed and the center console open.
Officers left a business card for the owner, advising them to contact the police department for further assistance.
Reviewing security footage from the hotel, officers noted suspicious activity around the time of the break-ins.
At approximately 6:24 AM, a silver four-door sedan was seen entering the parking lot, moving in various directions before stopping near the south end.
The footage captured the reflection of headlights and a beam from a flashlight, suggesting that someone may have been searching for targets.
Victims of the break-ins have been identified, including a third victim who reported the theft of a 10mm pistol and $800 in cash.
This individual noted that while their compound bows remained in the vehicle, they were unable to provide details about the firearm at the time of the report.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the suspects involved in these incidents.
