Friday, Bellefontaine Police responded to a home on East Chillicothe Avenue following reports of several vehicles being rummaged through overnight.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with five victims, who detailed their experiences.
The first victim reported that around 9:00 AM, they discovered their vehicle had been disturbed.
They noted approximately $25 missing, including a hidden $20 bill and about $5 in change.
They also mentioned that their vehicle registration was taken.
Surveillance footage from their doorbell camera captured a male suspect at around 6:50 AM, seen rummaging through vehicles.
The video showed a male in a sweatshirt and sweatpants with a backpack, holding a flashlight in his mouth, leaning into the driver’s side of a victim’s vehicle before entering another car.
Another victim confirmed their vehicle had also been disturbed but reported that nothing seemed to be missing.
A neighbor also approached officers, stating their vehicle had been searched but declined to file a report since nothing was taken.
Another victim, whose vehicle was left unlocked, confirmed that approximately $5 in change was taken, along with a pocket knife estimated at $50, though they were unsure if the knife was initially in the vehicle.
Authorities urge residents to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activity in the area.
