Bellefontaine High School recently named its final Seniors of the Month for the school year.
Name: JT Mundy
Parents: Chris and Ashley Mundy
School activities and awards: Baseball and Academic Awards.
If I were principal for a day: I wouldn’t be principal; it would be too much to handle!
Favorite school memory: Beating Granville in PBR baseball game.
People who have been an inspiration to me: Family, friends, and coaches.
Lately I’ve been reading: Moneyball.
My advice to parents: Don’t let your kids skip school.
My biggest regret: Not taking more advanced classes.
Next year: I will be attending OSU Lima and majoring in accounting.
Name: Katelyn Crabill
Parents: Andy and Jami Crabill
School activities and awards: BHS Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Choir, School Musical, Marching Band Section Leader, Soccer, and Bowling. I earned the Rotary Academic Award for maintaining a 3.5 GPA throughout high school. I also received recognition as Central Buckeye Conference (CBC) Athlete of the Month and received CBC Academic Awards.
If I were principal for a day: I would give students the day off to enjoy water games and/or a movie day with food trucks.
Favorite school memory: Scoring my first varsity soccer goal last fall against Indian Lake.
People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents, brother, grandparents, friends, and teammates who have always pushed me to be the best version of myself and supported me in everything I do.
Lately I’ve been reading: Regretting You by Colleen Hoover.
My advice to parents: Allow your children to participate in any and all the activities they show interest in, even if it’s for a short period of time. They will have no regrets in the future if they take the risk to try them.
My biggest regret: Not joining the symphonic choir and musical until sophomore year.
Next year: I will be attending the University of Akron to study nursing.
Name: Zach Horvath
Parents: Mike Horvath and Angie Horvath
School activities and awards: DECA: State Champion in Business Growth Plan, Three-Time National Competition Qualifier, TV Production Crew, and Outstanding Academic Awards for Broadcasting and Business.
If I were principal for a day: I would make kids learn about important financial information such as taxes, investments, and debt.
Favorite school memory: Filming Friday night football games with my company Horvath Productions.
People who have been an inspiration to me: Mrs. Rychener, Dr. Noeth, and Coach Brown.
Lately I’ve been reading: I’m more of a video guy.
My advice to parents: Invest in your child’s future instead of buying fancy houses/cars and acquiring debt. Helping your child follow their dreams and passions is more important than giving them things.
My biggest regret: Quitting hockey in the 5th grade.
Next year: I will be attending OSU Lima, majoring in marketing while continuing the operation of my videography business.
Name: Mekenzie Flora
Parents: Brad and Laura Flora
School activities and awards: Volleyball, French Club President, Société Honoraire de Français Président, DARE President, National Honor Society, Chieftain Leaders, Envirothon, Interact, and Model United Nations.
If I were principal for a day: I would give everyone a free period for them to do what they need to do, mainly nap.
Favorite school memory: La Boite de Mystere in Madame’s class.
People who have been an inspiration to me: My family and my teachers.
Lately I’ve been reading: The Poppy War Trilogy by R.F. Kuang.
My advice to parents: It’ll be okay and let your kids feel their way through their life decisions and make their own mistakes!
My biggest regret: Not getting involved sooner.
Next year: I will be attending Ashland University to study social work and political science.
