A Tennessee man is facing several charges after officers say he was caught driving under the influence early Monday morning in Bellefontaine.

Just before 3 AM,  officers noticed a black Toyota Corolla with Tennessee plates driving erratically through downtown Bellefontaine.

The vehicle made a wide turn onto West Chillicothe Avenue, crossed over lane markings, and nearly struck parked cars before coming to an awkward stop with one tire on the sidewalk in a nearby parking lot.

The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Carlos Novoa-Bricena, of Nashville, was approached by officers and appeared disoriented, using a GPS app to ask for directions back to Nashville.

Officers said in their report that he showed several signs of impairment and admitted to drinking beer.

He also admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license and stated the vehicle belonged to his wife.

Novoa-Bricena agreed to take a breath test, which resulted in a BrAC of 0.078 — just above the legal limit.

He then failed several field sobriety tests.

Novoa-Bricena was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence, no operator’s license, a marked lanes violation, and failure to obey a stop sign.

He was booked into the Logan County Jail.
