A DeGraff man was arrested after he assaulted his uncle Wednesday afternoon.
Bellefontaine Police were called out to The Heights Apartments.
Upon arrival, officers talked with the neighbor who reported the incident. The neighbor told authorities her daughter heard someone yelling for help.
The neighbor went to check on the victim and he told her that his nephew, Kenneth Wilkinson Jr. had assaulted him.
Wilkinson was gone when officers arrived.
The victim told authorities Wilkinson arrived at the apartment around 3 a.m. wanting a place to stay for the night.
The victim left for a doctor’s appointment and upon returning home, Wilkinson had turned the victim’s bedroom upside down and was mad because he had apparently lost money that he had previously.
Wilkinson was accusing the victim of taking the money, which he denied.
The victim was in the kitchen and Wilkinson, in a fit of rage, punched his uncle in the chest, knocking him backward onto the floor where the victim felt his hip dislocate.
While speaking outside, other officers observed Wilkinson re-enter the apartment from the back door.
Authorities found him emerging from a back bedroom and detained him.
Wilkinson admitted to having an argument with the victim, saying the victim stumbled when he bumped into him.
The uncle did not want Wilkinson to get into trouble. He said all he wanted the police to do was to remove Wilkinson from his apartment and tell him to not come back.
Authorities learned Wilkinson had been convicted of domestic violence in 2006 and 2009. both through the Marysville Municipal Court in Union County.
Wilkinson was transported and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
He was charged with felony domestic violence.
The victim was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine EMS.
