Tuesday night inside Bellefontaine City Council Chambers, Logan County Family Court Judge Natasha Kennedy officially swore in new members of the Bellefontaine City Council during a brief ceremony held in front of a crowd of friends and family.
Just after five o’clock, Judge Kennedy administered the oath of office to three new council members, along with a new council president and a new city treasurer.
Beforehand, Judge Kennedy had these remarks:
The entire council was then sworn in, along with newcomers, Ben Stahler as President of Council, Mark Fissel as City Treasurer, Wes Easton as Council Member-at-Large, Devin Palmer representing the First Ward, and Mick Lile representing the Fourth Ward.
Following the swearing-in, Bellefontaine Mayor Dave Crissman briefly addressed the new members, offering both encouragement and a dose of realism.
“You’re going to be challenged a lot in this role. Not everyone’s going to like you. You’ve got to have tough skin. You have a job to do, and you just have to do it. I look forward to working with all of you,” Crissman said.
The newly sworn-in officials say they’re excited to get started and are eager to get to work serving the City of Bellefontaine.
