The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities proudly opened the new Mobi-mat at Old Field Beach on Thursday afternoon.

The mat (stretching 100 feet) is a roll-out mat designed to create an accessible pathway over uneven or soft surfaces.

The mat provides a stable, non-slip surface for wheelchair users, people with walkers, and individuals with mobility challenges.

The mat covers the sand and leads all the way to the water.

The $7,000 mat was purchased from money provided by the United Way of Logan County. It was installed by the Indian Lake State Park.

The Mobi-mat is constructed from 100% recycled material. It is lightweight and will be rolled up and stored in the offseason.

“The Mobi-mat is another way our county is becoming more accessible for people of all abilities,” said Logan County Board of DD Superintendent Krista Oldiges. “We are thankful to the United Way for funding this project.”

The Mobi-mat is the latest item to make Logan County more accessible. The Logan County Board of DD has been a part of two all-inclusive parks.

Kelli Bader, Community Engagement Coordinator at the Board of DD, says next they will explore helping businesses become more accessible.
