A Shelby man was cited after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning just outside of West Liberty.
The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. on U.S. Route 68 near the Jennings, Farley & Seeley Funeral Home.
According to authorities, Paul Zimmerman, 41, of Shelby, was driving a 2011 Ford F-550 southbound when he failed to stop in time and struck a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by Diana Fessler, 78, of Bellefontaine.
Fessler had slowed for a northbound semi that was hugging the center line.
After the impact, Zimmerman’s vehicle went off the right side of the road.
The trailer he was towing jackknifed, and both the truck and trailer came to rest in a ditch.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and Zimmerman was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
