Sunday morning, shortly before 1:00 AM, Bellefontaine Police stopped a white Honda Accord traveling on South Main Street.

Officers saw the vehicle driving with only daytime running lights, no taillights, and making several traffic violations, including drifting into the opposite lane, failing to use turn signals, and crossing double yellow lines.

The driver, Andrew Schellenbaum, 41, of North Lewisburg, was initially cooperative but admitted to recent drug use.

Officers also noticed that Schellenbaum showed several signs of intoxication.

He was unable to complete field sobriety tests due to a recent surgery.

A search of his vehicle turned up part of a Suboxone strip and two over-the-counter medications, but no other controlled substances.

At the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Schellenbaum voluntarily provided breath samples, which yielded results of 0.020 g/210L and 0.018 g/210L, both within the legal limit.

Schellenbaum now faces citations of:

  • No operator’s license
  • Operation while failure to reinstate license
  • Ovi M1
  • OVI – refusal
  • Turns at intersections
  • Turn and stop signals
  • Driving in marked lanes
  • High beam usage

He was then released to a sober individual.
