Northern Lights to light up the sky Monday night

Clear, cold air is moving in, giving the perfect conditions to see the Northern Lights tonight.

Sources say a strong geomagnetic storm should create a big aurora show across the northern U.S.

A solar blast is expected around 8 PM, which could trigger the lights shortly after—guestimates say lights should be visible after 11 PM and throughout the night.

Here in the northern U.S., we might see green and purple lights overhead.

Further south, folks could see more green and red glows along the northern horizon.

It will be extremely cold, though.

Temperatures are below 10°F with wind chills as low as -15°F and gusts over 35 MPH.

Limit your time outside to 5–10 minutes, dress in layers, and cover all exposed skin.

For the best view, get away from city lights and look toward the northern horizon.
