Russells Point Police Chief Joe Freyhof reports that on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, just after 1:00 AM Officer Morgan Styles was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash. The crash occurred on State Route 235 near the go-cart track in Lakeview.

Officer Styles fell asleep on his way home from working a 12-hour shift. A Russells Point PD cruiser was totaled in the crash. Thankfully, Officer Styles only sustained minor injuries.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office conducted the crash investigation and issued Officer Styles a citation for failure to control. The Indian Lake EMS Joint Ambulance District and the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department assisted Officer Styles.

” The incident serves as a reminder of how dangerous drowsy driving can be,” Chief Freyhof said, “While our natural purpose is to provide and support traffic safety, sometimes we become the statistic that proves the need for enforcement.”
