Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson’s office is awarding more than $2.5 million in grants to help communities connect opioid overdose survivors with treatment and recovery services.
The funding goes to 38 law enforcement agencies and local governments through the Drug Abuse Response Team, or DART, grant program.
Locally, the Village of Russells Point is receiving $77,000 for its DART efforts.
The program brings law enforcement and behavioral health providers together to provide 24-hour assistance to overdose survivors and their families.
Services can include immediate treatment referrals, recovery support, and other resources aimed at reducing the risk of future overdoses.
“Overdose survivors need urgent, hands-on support to break the cycle of addiction,” Wilson said. “These grants empower local law enforcement and healthcare partners to meet people where they are in their most vulnerable moments and guide them toward lasting recovery.”
The grants will fund DART activities through June 30th, 2027.
Funding ranges from just over $20,000 to nearly $150,000.
The Attorney General’s Office supplemented $1.5 million in state funding with another $1 million in opioid settlement funds to support this year’s grants.
The DART program was established in 2017, and many of this year’s recipients have received funding in previous years.
