Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson has announced nearly $300,000 in grant funding to provide advanced training for law enforcement officers at no cost to them or their agencies.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office received a $292,450 Traffic Safety Grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The funding will cover seven advanced courses offered through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
The courses focus on traffic safety, impaired-driving enforcement, and crash investigations. Training options include standardized field sobriety testing, advanced roadside impaired-driving enforcement, traffic collision investigations, vehicle dynamics, and radar and lidar operation and instruction.
According to Wilson, advanced training gives officers the tools and skills needed to help keep Ohioans safe and strengthen communities.
Officers can register for the free courses through OPOTA Online. There are no upfront costs for participating officers or their agencies.
The grant funding is available through September 2027.
