Ohio County Engineers honored during annual CEAO meeting

The County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) presented its annual state recognition awards to county engineers and staff from across the state during its annual business meeting, held earlier this month at the Hilton Columbus.

Andrew Baumer, P.E., P.S., Auglaize County Engineer, was named 2025 County Engineer of the Year in recognition of his long-standing service to the association, including his role as a board member and his leadership on various CEAO committees.

The 2025 County Surveyor of the Year award was presented to Chris Young, P.E., P.S., Holmes County Engineer, for his work re-establishing the historic Greenville Treaty Line through Holmes County.

The CEAO County Engineer Employee of the Year Award was awarded to Bob Durbin, P.E., P.S., Deputy Engineer with the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office.

Durbin was recognized for his dedication to the citizens of Mahoning County and his volunteer efforts supporting CEAO.

James A. Wiechart, P.E., P.S., Mercer County Engineer, received the CEAO David P. Brand Safety Award for his dedicated service to the Mercer County Engineer’s Office and his continued commitment to improving roadway safety.

CEAO also announced its incoming officers for 2026.

They include:

  • President: Douglas E. Cade, Hancock County Engineer
  • 1st Vice President: Jeremiah D. Upp, Fairfield County Engineer
  • 2nd Vice President: Roger E. Wright, Washington County Engineer
  • Treasurer: James A. Wiechart, Mercer County Engineer
  • Immediate Past President: Scott C. Coleman, Logan County Engineer
