Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel have signed a proclamation declaring September 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day across the state.
The proclamation recognizes Parton’s life, career, and generosity, including her longtime commitment to children’s literacy through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
More than one million Ohio children from all 88 counties have participated in the Imagination Library of Ohio since the statewide program was established in 2019. The program provides eligible children with a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book mailed to them each month.
Parents can enroll children from birth through age five in the program through the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio website.
The September 25 date also includes a nod to one of Parton’s most famous songs, “9 to 5.” The date, 9/25, creates a play on the numbers in the song’s title.
The statewide recognition comes as Ohio continues to highlight the impact of the Imagination Library in encouraging early childhood reading and literacy.
