BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio – The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center has announced the cancellation of the planned Solar Eclipse at the Top of Ohio viewing event, originally scheduled for Monday, April 8, 2024, at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. This decision was made from an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and attendees.
After careful consideration and participating in multiple meetings and workshops with local health and safety officials, Ohio Hi-Point determined that hosting a large-scale event during this period could potentially strain community resources and pose unnecessary risks for OHP students and staff working the event.
“While we understand the excitement and educational value of experiencing a total solar eclipse, our top priority must always be the safety of our students – especially our young student drivers – and staff, as well as ensuring that our community’s resources can be focused where they are needed most during this time,” said Dr. Rick Smith, superintendent of Ohio Hi-Point. “We hope visitors for the solar eclipse will get to experience Logan County and this one-in-a-lifetime event at one of the other community events happening in our area.”
Full refunds will be given to those who already purchased tickets to Ohio Hi-Point’s event. Ticket holders should look in their email for further communication from OHP and a refund notification from Eventbrite.
The district continues to appreciate the understanding and support of the community as Ohio Hi-Point continues to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff.
