Ohio’s minimum wage will increase by 3.5 percent beginning January 1, 2027.
The Ohio Department of Commerce says the minimum wage will rise from $11 to $11.40 per hour for non-tipped employees.
The minimum wage for tipped employees will increase from $5.50 to $5.70 per hour.
The annual increase is required under a constitutional amendment approved by Ohio voters in 2006.
The wage is adjusted each year based on inflation, using the Consumer Price Index for urban wage earners and clerical workers.
The threshold for businesses covered by the state minimum wage will also increase.
Beginning January 1, the state minimum wage will apply to businesses with annual gross receipts of more than $420,000, up from the current $405,000 threshold.
For employees working for businesses with annual gross receipts of $420,000 or less, as well as 14- and 15-year-old workers, the minimum wage remains tied to the federal rate of $7.25 per hour.
