Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Wednesday that the state’s National Guard will continue supporting the District of Columbia National Guard through November 30th.

The move comes at the request of the Secretary of the Army through the National Guard Bureau.

While some Ohio National Guard members will be rotated, the state will maintain a contingent of 150 military police to carry out presence patrols in Washington, D.C.

Governor DeWine emphasized that none of the Ohio National Guard members stationed in D.C. are currently serving as law enforcement officers in Ohio.
