State Representative Ty Mathews welcomed Taiwan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Wen-Jane Tu, along with leaders of Taiwan’s agriculture industry, to the Ohio Statehouse this week.

The visit marked a major step in strengthening trade partnerships between Ohio and Taiwan.

During the event, agricultural leaders from both sides signed Letters of Intent outlining Taiwan’s plans to purchase Ohio corn and soybean products.

The investment, expected to generate $6.4 billion in revenue, is being hailed as transformational for Ohio farmers.

“I am proud and grateful to be part of such a momentous occasion,” said Mathews. “Announcing this investment shows that Ohio is a global player and that we are open to continued investment in all sectors.”

Members of the Ohio General Assembly also participated in discussions during the visit, exploring best practices that could benefit Ohio agriculture while reinforcing the state’s long-standing partnership with Taiwan.

To commemorate the occasion, Mathews presented a joint proclamation from the Ohio House and Senate to the Taiwanese delegation.
