Frank Chatfield and Jacob Hawk will be recognized at the Opening Ceremonies of the Ohio Special Olympics on June 28.

Hawk has been chosen to carry the torch with police and firefighters across the state for the ceremony.

Here’s what he has to say about the honor:

Rose Cantor, Logan County Recreation and Special Olympics Coordinator, had these sentiments about Hawk:

Chatfield will be included in the Ring of Honor, representing Logan County as the oldest flag football player in the state.

Chatfield, 61, has been participating in the Special Olympics since 1977.

In his 47 years of Special Olympics, Chatfield has also participated in flag football, track and field, softball, basketball, and bowling.

“It’s exciting to be in the Ring of Honor,” Chatfield said.  “I’ll be there with lots of other people.”

Cantor, says this about Chatfield:

Hawk is in his second year of track and field and also participates in softball, basketball, and flag football.
