Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted have announced the first round of Career Technical Education Equipment Grant awards, expanding career technical education access to more than 10,000 additional students.

Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted Monday announced the recipients of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program which will expand career technical education access to an additional 10,345 students across the state. The funding helps schools purchase up-to-date equipment so they can better prepare students to be career-ready upon graduation.

Through this grant program, 56 schools will receive grants totaling more than $67.7 million. See the full list of program awardees. Recipients will use the funding to purchase new equipment for career technical and compact schools across Ohio for various programs including engineering, manufacturing, health sciences, construction, and more.

Locally: Ohio Hi-Point Career Center will receive $595,525.

This grant marks a significant investment in the future of information technology (IT) education within Ohio Hi-Point’s district.

“This will benefit several of our IT pathways, including our Ohio Hi-Point IT programs at Upper Scioto Valley (USV) and Indian Lake as well as our Cyber Security program on OHP’s campus in Bellefontaine,” said Brad Richardson, Ohio Hi-Point Assistant Superintendent.

The grant monies will be used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, curriculum and software materials, and professional development for teachers.

“We are committed to providing an excellent career-ready education for our students, and this grant, along with the continued collaboration with our partner districts and industry leaders, will help us empower the next generation of IT professionals,” finished Richardson.

Funding for the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program was included in the 2024-2025 state operating budget in addition to $200 million for the Career Technical Construction Program. In November 2023, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted announced that 35 schools received awards to update or expand their career tech facilities.

The second round of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant will open later this spring. Schools interested in applying for the second round can visit Workforce.Ohio.gov/CTEEquipment.
